CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Casper Horseheads are this year’s host for the Expedition League All-Star Game. The exhibition will feature the best and brightest from the first half of this summer’s Expedition League teams.

The Horseheads have four representatives playing in the game, and we’ve profiled two of the All-Stars so far, including a pitcher and an infielder/outfielder.

Ryan Callahan is also among the All-Star crew for the ‘Heads.

Callahan hails from Overland Park, KS, and plays baseball at the University of Kansas during the school year with Jake Baker, a fellow Horsehead.

Through 39 games in Casper, Callahan is hitting .268 with a .411 on-base percentage. He’s also homered once and clubbed 8 doubles for 17 RBIs.

Horseheads Head Coach Kyle Pearson said Callahan had a slow start to the summer, but he’s happy to see that the results have come for Callahan.

“The sky’s the limit for him, and I think the All-Star Game for him is just perfect,” said Pearson. “He deserves that for sure.”

In an interview at Mike Lansing Field after learning about the All-Star selection, Callahan said that he was happy to be a part of the team and was looking forward to meeting other guys from around the league. He also was candid about the selection.

“I think it shows that I’ve done my job while I’m here,” said Callahan. “I’ve played every rep full speed, and when I’ve had an opportunity to have success, I have.”

The Expedition All-Star Game will be held at Mike Lansing Field on Tuesday, July 20 at 7:05 PM.
