CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Capitol City has been buzzing with nonstop activity since the summer season began. The Recreation Department says there are endless opportunities for locals to participate in summer festivities.

“We have seen certainly a great up-tick in people eager to get out and participate and those kind of things, so I would say in that regard, those numbers are up; but as far as our workload and what we do, I don’t’ think we really missed a beat other than we did have to close some facilities for awhile and we just took advantage of that time to do some really deep cleaning and maintenance and that kind of thing during that time,” said Teresa Moore, Director of Community Rec and Events.

The Aquatic Center just re-opened, along with two brand-new playgrounds. Fridays on the Plaza happen weekly and Cheyenne Ice and Events and the Civic Center are gearing up for more performers.

The Botanic Gardens are featuring a museum-type exhibit on the Arboretum, and Edge Fest is right around the corner. Since the state re-opened, Moore said participation has been great from community members looking to get involved.

“There is a million and one things going on and that’s just our department, but there is also other community events going, obviously. It’s going to be a summer-filled with music so there is always something to enjoy.”
