LARAMIE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - A state champion, a Gatorade Wyoming Player of the Year, a Wyoming News Now Prep Athlete of the Week, and a Division I commit.

Those are some of the many phrases one can use to describe Laramie Volleyball Star Alexis Stucky. Now, Wyoming News Now Prep Athlete of the Year can be added to that list.

The rising senior was incredible in the fall of 2020, recording 419 kills, 371 digs, 35 service aces, and 32 blocks. For that, and her in entire career, the 6′2″ outside hitter is ranked #22 in prepvolleyball.com’s Class of 2022 player rankings. Stucky is also a University of Florida Volleyball commit.

Alexis said her love of volleyball came from her high school head coach/mom.

“When [my mom] was out coaching college volleyball, she took me to a tournament and I saw my very first 12-year-olds playing volleyball, and I was like...”oh my gosh I want to do that,”' said Stucky. “That’s how it started and I’ve never looked back.”

During the volleyball season, Coach Jill Stucky said Alexis “has absolutely no off switch”. Alexis explained that her competitive drive starts at home.

“Everything is a competition and my dad actually does a lot with it too. So, he has quite the trash-talking game. He gets me a little competitive. Sometimes he’ll say things, and [I’ll be like] “ugh I just want to beat you so bad now.’”

Alexis, her sister Maddy, and her mother Jill all return for Laramie’s quest to repeat as State Champions in 2021.

Congratulations to Alexis Stucky, Wyoming News Now Prep Athlete of the Year
