CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Fallen Soldiers Memorial Torch Motorcycle Ride came through Casper Wednesday afternoon. The annual ride escorts the memorial torch from Oregon to Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C.

During the cross-country journey, riders and the memorial flame stop in different towns to honor service members. The emotional welcome home today was completed with the singing of “Amazing Grace.”

Riders say the “thank yous” and “welcome homes” make the experience special. People of all ages were there to visit with the riders after days of anticipation.

Larry Seems, the Post 2 Commander, says seeing young children wanting to get to know Veterans and hear their stories means so much.

“We were handing out flags at Walmart and asked young people to come, and I see some of them did. So it’s not taught in school but this way, they’ll learn,” said Seems.

The Elks are hosting a dinner tomorrow night at five to help raise money for the cross-country trip.
