CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - A house fire is under investigation in Cheyenne. The call for the fire came in around 2:15 Thursday afternoon in the 900 block of East Carlson Road.

Cheyenne Rescue fire department responded with backup from the Cheyenne Police.

According to firefighters, Black Hills Energy was called onto the scene because there was a downed cable reportedly in the backyard, but it is unclear if that was the cause of the fire.

“We do call black hills because a power line had fallen in to where the fire was, that’s why we call Blackhills to make sure the power line is safe for all our crews,” said Andrew Dykshorn, Division Chief of Operations, Cheyenne Rescue.

The Cheyenne Animal Control was also called since the occupants were not home at the time.

Six dogs and two cats were taken from the home, and at least one dog was given oxygen for smoke inhalation.

The occupants were not willing to comment at the time. More information will be released by the fire department later when the cause of the blaze is determined.
