Nonprofits prepare for 2nd annual WyoGives Virtual Day of Giving
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Dozens of nonprofits in Laramie County gathered behind Paramount Café on Wednesday afternoon to prepare for the 2nd annual WyoGives Virtual Day of Giving. The event is aimed to raise awareness to what the nonprofits do in communities, and help raise money for them.
“Everything from health and wellness, to education, to youth programs, to arts and culture. They’re such a critical component to our communities, without them, our communities would not be what they are today,” said Wyoming Nonprofit Network Executive Director, Jody Shields.
195 nonprofits across Wyoming will be participating in the event, including more than 50 in Laramie County. On Wednesday, Cheyenne Mayor, Patrick Collins, and County Commissioners Chairman, Gunnar Malm, declared July 14th as “WyoGives Day.”
“It’s always an honor to be asked to do these kinds of things, but the real honor is the work that they do. Taking care of our underprivileged, taking care of the arts, the things that maybe government doesn’t do, they find those niches and fulfill them and it’s amazing,” said Collins.
The virtual event begins at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday July 14th. For more information on the event and the nonprofits participating, you can head to the WyoGives website here.
