Mikkayla DeBolt crowned Miss Wyoming 2021
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Mikkayla DeBolt was crowned Miss Wyoming 2021 and will go on to represent Wyoming at the Miss America pageant.
DeBolt hopes that during her year she is able to connect with people from across the state. She will spend her year sharing her social initiative, Kids Unplugged, with schools and other organizations in Wyoming. The platform is about encouraging kids to explore the world around them without the use of technology.
DeBolt never saw herself as a pageant girl. She hopes that during her year she can show people that the Miss Wyoming system is more than just a pageant. There is so much more that goes into it. She will serve this year as a role model to young people, showing them it’s okay to try something new. To her, the title is more than just wearing a crown and sash. It’s about being a real, reachable inspiration. She wants to serve the people of Wyoming in any way they need her to.
“I just want to represent Wyoming the best way that I know how. I’ve grown up here. It’s been my home for the past 22 years. And it’s really close to my heart and I just want to have people’s minds changed about Wyoming,” said Debolt.
She will go on to compete for the Miss America crown in December. She is excited for the experience and can’t wait to continue building relationships with other state titleholders.
