Clear and Cool Tonight, Hot and Cloudy Tomorrow
By: Jordan Frazier
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Today was one of the best days in terms of weather for Wyoming. Well below average temperatures across the state and dry conditions all around. The dry conditions, however, have prompted a fire weather watch for the central and southern portions of the state. This will only be exaggerated by the increasing temperatures in the days ahead.
In terms of rain, only the northeastern tip of the state is expecting some thunderstorm activity as we go into the evening hours. It is possible that some of these will have severe potential and even drop some hail. Winds around the state are relatively calm after the passage of the cold front. Just enough that it provided a nice breeze if you went for a walk today. Tonight, expect the skies to be clear and cool with temperatures in the mid 50s and 60s around the state.
Tomorrow, clouds will begin to build leading to some scattered showers and storms mostly around the northern and eastern portions of the state. The Storm Prediction Center only has those regions under a general thunderstorm risk, so nothing on the severe side. In terms of temperatures, we go from below average, to above average in the span of 24 hours. Expect 90s with some high 90s in the northern and eastern portions of the state.
The heat will stick around for a few days with a slight cool down expected going into the weekend.
