CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Cheyenne East’s Darcy Jardine announced on Twitter this weekend that she picked up her first college basketball scholarship offer. The offer comes from Ave Maria University.

Ave Maria is located in Florida and competes at the NAIA level. It is a member of the Sun Conference.

The 6′4 Jardine was a key member of East’s state championship squad last season. She also plays on the AAU circuit with Colorado Premier.

During an interview the day after announcing her first offer, Jardine said playing college basketball was something she started to consider seriously entering her freshman year.

“When I joined Coach Keith Van Horn when I joined his team, that’s really when I started to think that I could, and I had the potential, too,” said Jardine. “And that I really wanted to work hard and go and play somewhere in college.”

Jardine also said getting the first offer is exciting.

“Before this, I’ve talked to colleges and stuff, but the first offer kind of made it real that ‘Oh, this could actually happen.’ And it’s not like a small hope.”

Congratulations to Jardine on her first offer, and eyes will be on her as she heads into her final run with the T-Birds next season.
