CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -

At the end of May and the beginning of June, Wyoming was seeing temperatures in the 90s around the state. Temperatures like these were consistently showing up, day after day. We were finally able to get a break from the heat about a week ago when a cold front with some rain came through the state. You could almost hear the sizzling of everything cooling down once that rain started. Many places around the state saw their temperatures drop from the 90s down to the mid 60s, like Cheyenne.

Since then, we have been seeing a pattern in our weather. Temperatures have maintained at a comfortable level, staying in the 70s and 80s. Temperatures have been like this for about a week now. If it has increased, it may have only been by a few degrees while staying in the 70s and 80s range. Those are just the high temperatures. The low temperatures also stayed consistently in upper 40s to the lower 60s. These kinds of temperatures, being so consistent, allowed for getting ready in the mornings to be easy!

With the way the rain chances have been lately, that also made it easy to be prepared for the afternoon showers. We have been experiencing textbook perfect summertime showers. Clouds work their way in during the mornings. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoons for a few hours. Then, the clouds and rain chances clear out overnight to do the same thing the next day. This pattern of cloud coverage and rain has been going on all week, and will continue to do so as we head towards the weekend. This afternoon, we will have afternoon showers. Just like the pattern, it will all clear out overnight.

This pattern will keep going as we head towards the weekend. Clouds will clear out tonight, but will quickly return tomorrow morning. More afternoon showers will arrive tomorrow. The Storm Prediction Center has the entire state placed under a General Thunderstorm Risk for tomorrow. With it being a General Risk, we cannot rule out gusty winds or the chance of hail. If you see showers starting up, make sure your eyes are to the sky and you are prepared for anything.
