CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - For the past five years, a Casper photography business has been working on a book-line project. Now, as they prepare to take their project nationally, they want to share it locally first.

Audie Jeans Photography, along with many other local businesses, artists, and teachers are creating an underwater world right here in Casper.

“Casper gets to experience the launch event of our first big book which is Mermaid World. So we are super excited to create kind of like an underwater fantasy world for mermaids,” said Audrey Jeans, the co-owner of Audie Jeans Photography.

The event will feature interactive pirate shows, a professional sand castle maker, and bounce houses outside. There will also be booths inside where participants can make jewelry and crowns to wear.

Dream upon a Princess, a local entertainment service, will be sponsoring different activities too.

Participants will have the chance to dress up as mermaids and get their photo taken. If they choose to, they can enter into the People’s Choice competition. Whoever wins the competition will be crowned Miss Mermaid World Princess. All the proceeds from the voting will go to the local non-profit, Mimi’s House.

The project, Picture My Stories, is all about kid seeing themselves as the characters they admire.

“So the perfect extension of that is the book. The storybook that they can pass on through the generations that when they go to their storybook shelf at the end of the day, their bedtime story is about them,” said Jeans.

Jeans says as a photographer she wants to help her subjects find themselves and brace their identity, and she hopes this event will inspire children to do the same.

The event will take place next weekend at River of Life Church. It starts Friday, July 9th at one, and Saturday, July 10th at ten. The crowning of Miss Mermaid World Princess will be at three on Saturday.

Admission at the door is five dollars for children and free for adults. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Discounted presale packages are available now.
