CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Wyoming is a big state with lots of love for its University of Wyoming Cowboys, which is why every summer some of UW’s coaches and student-athletes like to go out and visit fans in each corner of the state.

The first stop of this year’s Summer Bash was in Casper at David Street Station.

It was an opportunity for Pokes fans to interact and meet some of UW’s coaches and student-athletes. UW Head Football Coach Craig Bohl said this is one of the more enjoyable parts of his job.

“There’s a lot of people, as we say, that ride for the brand,” said Bohl in an interview amidst the festivities in Casper. “It’s been enjoyable for me. I’ll be going into my eighth year, and sometimes everybody needs to recognize this is the University of Wyoming, not the University of Laramie, which is why we do events like this in Casper.”

Fans were also treated to a performance from Western Thunder, UW’s marching band. There were games galore with many different opportunities to stir up a little friendly competition.

Garrett Crall, a defensive lineman for the Cowboys football team, said he enjoys these kinds of events, too.

“I remember being a little kid and wanting all the college football players, wanting to meet them or give them a high five, and so I really wanna try to fulfill that kid’s dreams like that,” said Crall before too many fans had descended on David Street Station.

Crall called it “kind of surreal” to be that guy now. “It’s an honor. It’s a privilege for sure, and it’s part, it’s something that comes with being a football player here at UW. So you know, it’s a fun time.”

The Summer Bash tour continues Saturday evening in Cheyenne at Lions Park from 4-7 P.M.
