Strong Winds Expected Overnight while Rain and Thunderstorms Looming Tomorrow
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Today was another hot day in Wyoming as some portions of the state reached into the triple digit temperatures. Lots of clouds began rolling in this morning with some isolated showers, but it still remained quite hot. Much of these showers will push off to the east as the night progresses leaving nothing but increased cloud cover. There is still the chance of an isolated shower later in the night, however, the biggest threat will be the wind gusts. Some places may see gusts in excess of 40 MPH.
By tomorrow morning, the rain will come right back covering much of the state so be sure to bring that umbrella in to work tomorrow. As the afternoon rolls along, we will see greater chances for thunderstorms. The Storm Prediction Center has a Marginal risk for severe weather in the eastern part of the state while the rest of the state remains under thunderstorms.
The big threats from this will be heavy rainfall and strong gusting winds. Some places by Friday may even see up to an inch of rain. This is much needed as the state is still under a moderate drought. It’ll also help lower our fire weather risk over the next few days. Friday will be the wet one with very high chances of rain throughout much of the region. We will be sure to keep you informed if any of these showers turn severe.
