CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - 15 cars on a Union Pacific train derailed near Hillsdale around 2:15 a.m. on Monday June 21st, a UP spokesperson confirmed this afternoon. Wyoming News Now received a news tip about the incident this morning and reached out to UP for a statement.

As of this afternoon, the track is still not clear and crews are currently working to clean up the damage. The spokesperson also said there is no timeline right now as to when the area will be clear, and when the train will be back up and running. There is no danger to the public at this time but the UP spokesperson said this incident will impact train traffic in the area.

The cause of the derailment is still under investigation but Wyoming News Now will update the public when we know more.
