CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Natrona County Meals on Wheels is celebrating 50 years of service. Meals on Wheels has served seniors and home-bound people in Natrona County for half a century, and they don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

The organization serves and prepares over 500 meals a day. The main goal of Meals on Wheels is to make sure the people they are serving are able to get the nutrients they need. The meals are personally delivered to each individual’s home. Jamie Loveall, the executive director of Natrona County Meals on Wheels, contributes the success of the organization to community support.

“You’ve got to be a strong organization. You have to have a strong foundation, strong members, strong donors, strong support in your community, and to me that just means that we’re doing our jobs that we’re supposed to be doing by keeping people in their homes and we’re doing it well,” said Loveall.

Natrona County Meals on Wheels is celebrating their 50th year with a birthday party on their front lawn. The event is free to the public. It will include cake, a barbecue lunch, and face painting. Tours of the facility will also be available for those who want to see what happens at Meals on Wheels.

Due to the pandemic, Natrona County Meals on Wheels was unable to do their big fundraiser, so they also will have this at the party. The Pot O’ Beans Raffle will give participants the chance to win cash prizes, totaling up to 10,575 dollars. The tickets cost 100 dollars. The purchase of one ticket can feed a senior in Natrona County for about one month.

“We just want to celebrate. We want to celebrate we made it through this year. We want to celebrate our 50th birthday. It’s not a fundraiser, other than the Pot O’ Beans if you want to participate. It’s just come, have some cake with us, enjoy our company, and show support for 50 years of service,” said Loveall.

The event will take place Saturday, June 19th from 11 to 2.
