CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Casper community members might have noticed a few more mosquito bites from their early summer activities. The Terminix owner said this is happening because the mosquitoes came out earlier than normal.

Greg Borst, the Terminix owner, said the spring storm and all of the water from it is the cause of the early bugs.“We had a lot of latent moisture left over so that brought out an early hatch,” Borst said.

Mosquitoes can breed in water. Objects like tires sitting on people’s property can be a breeding ground. Borst said the first thing to do if they see any mosquitoes around their property is to find the breeding ground.

Terminix can handle mosquitoes on a smaller scale. Natrona County Weed and Pest can help with larger problems. “They’ll [fog] an entire neighborhood along the river,” Borst said.

Getting rid of these bugs with different repelling methods is sometimes easier than using chemicals. “Citronella candles and bug zappers work wonderfully. They’re drawn to light so that helps a lot,” Borst said.

Borst has owned Terminix for the past 30 years and said he hasn’t seen them out this early in a long time. They are located at 731 N McKinley Street.
