Strongman Celtic Highlands festival kicks off summer activities
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -Visit Cheyenne has some great events to kick off the summer, starting with the strongman competition at the Plaza at noon.
“This is three times the size of last year’s in the amount of athletes, so we are very excited about that we have 66 registered athletes today. From all over, we have people from as far as De Moines, Iowa, who drove to compete today,” said David Keetley — WY State chair for the US. Strongman
Friday kicks off the strong man and woman competitions for the Celtic highlands festival in the depot plaza. Then, they will move to lions park on Saturday and Sunday.
Several activities are happening this weekend in and around the city,
with hotels getting booked up as people stream in from all over the country.
This is the fourth year Strongman has been running in the 16-year Celtic Highlands festival in Cheyenne.
After the competition, the Fridays on the Plaza will begin with their summer music series.
The civic center will also be holding an Indiana Jones series accompanied by the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra.
Burns Day is kicking off with a parade in the morning, live music and a Monster Truck showing throughout the day.
Terry Bison Ranch will be holding live music concerts into the evening.
“There’s going to be a whole bunch more concerts, and dances, just tons of stuff going on. So if ya can come out to Laramie county, come out to Cheyenne, go out to Burns, you’re going to have a fun weekend. If you cant find something to do, you’re not looking,” said Domenic Bravo- Ceo & President of Visit Cheyenne
