Omar Castruita named Region IX Men’s Soccer MVP

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (LCCC RELEASE) - Golden Eagles’ sophomore Omar Castruita (Boulder, Colo.) was named Region IX Men’s Soccer Most Valuable Player for the 2020-21 season.

Castruita scored four goals and tallied six assists in 12 games played this season, helping the Golden Eagles to their second consecutive NJCAA Men’s Soccer Championships appearance.

The midfielder produced a four-assist game back on April 19th in a Golden Eagles’ 6-0 win over Central Wyoming.

Last season, Castruita was named 2019 Region IX Freshman of the Year by the region’s head coaches becoming just one of seven players in program history to earn that honor.

Castruita assisted on 18 goals last season, the most assists in a single season in program history.
