LCSD1 Davis Elementary School celebrates last day of school
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Davis Elementary School was scheduled for a full school day for their final day of classes before summer break. However, the school ended on a much lighter note than how it began in the Fall.
“I was really excited though when the last three days we got to not have masks. That really made the last three days of school very fun,” said Kami Harris, a 5th Grader at Davis Elementary.
Students and staff had a change on mask requirements for the final week of school. Masks are still being recommended, but not enforced.
Wednesday, the Kindergarten Class had their promotion ceremony and today, Fourth and Fifth Graders participated a kick-ball tournament on the playground.
The two Sixth Grade classes walked to Lions Park for a field day.
Students said they had a difficult year with all the new Covid-changes; however, Davis Elementary Staff made the best out of a rocky situation.
“I just want to say thank you to all of the staff. They were very helpful this year, they were very encouraging and kind; especially our principal and our secretaries,” said Harris.
While Davis Elementary is holding summer school sessions for students, the official school year will not begin until August 23, 2021.
