National Historic Trails Center excited to serve locals and tourists this summer

CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The National Historic Trails Center is now open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Officials at the Trails Center is excited to see all of the tourists passing through, but hope locals bring their families.

“We are here to serve our local community and help them get to know their national historic trails. They came right up through Casper and we want to talk to people and teach them the history,” said Kathleen Hanson, the education technician.

The museum and all of its activities are free for community members. This weekend, they are featuring the Merchant family who is going to talk about music the pioneers listened to on the Oregon Trail. There will also be a blacksmithing presentation by David Osmundsen. Times for the presentation are:

Saturday, June 5: 10:00-5:00 p.m. – Special Presentation: Blacksmithing at 11 am and 2pm

Sunday, June 6: 8:00-3:00 p.m. – Special Presentation: Blacksmithing at 11 am.
