CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The final Natrona County School District seniors received their diplomas Friday evening. Kelly Walsh was the final high school to have its graduation.

It was Kelly Walsh’s 55th commencement ceremony.

In a front of a packed house at the Ford Wyoming Center, the almost four hundred Kelly Walsh graduates listened to a few speeches and songs from the Kelly Walsh choir before receiving their diplomas.

In an interview before graduation day, Kelly Walsh graduate Dominic Gray summed up his time in the green and white as simply “amazing.”

“I’m very proud to be a Kelly Walsh Trojan and all of the great people that were here before and a lot of these teachers here they went here, too,” said Gray. “And just being able to be a part of the family here it’s pretty cool.”

Before Kelly Walsh held its graduation Friday evening, students, teachers, family, friends and the graduates gathered in the Midwest School’s gym to celebrate its 11 graduates in the class of 2021.

The ceremony featured a handful of speeches from students and faculty, and Midwest Principal Chris Tobin shared some of the advice each of the graduates said they would give to themselves if they could talk to their ninth-grade selves.

The list included things like enjoying every moment and learning not to drive too fast. Midwest Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Michael Brainard found one of the frequent answers especially interesting.

“A lot of them said do the work the first time and don’t put it off until the very end, so that’s kind of funny that that’s what they would say,” said Brainard in an interview in the Midwest library prior to the graduation festivities commencing. “So hopefully our younger kids can hear that and say, ‘Yeah, maybe I’ll just do it right the first time and not have to do it again.’”

Midwest and Kelly Walsh were the final two graduation ceremonies for NCSD this spring. The final day of the school year for all NCSD students is June 11th.
