CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Laramie County School District One will be offering music classes to students 4th grade and up. The classes will be customized by like instruments and skill level for each student.

The classes start on June 14 and run through July 22. Parents will be able to request classes on either Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursdays. The classes will run half an hour, anywhere from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Music coordinator, Sean Ambrose, said they want to accommodate parents’ summer schedules by offering a wide variety of options.

The classes are $50 for the six-week courses. Students will be charged extra if they use a school instrument. Ambrose suggested students interested should contact their school music teachers; although, Ambrose said students should have received a registration form in the mail.

“If they are beginners, they are going to be learning the very beginning of how to get started, so that when they start school in the fall, they have got a bit of a head start. For those kiddos, maybe in junior high, that have been playing for three or four years, it’s really like advanced summer instruction. These classes are not designed as remedial; they are designed as enrichment,” said Ambrose.

The classes will be held by a certified instructor in Storey Gymnasium.
