CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Burns Day, an event filled with family fun & joy that has been absent from the Burns community for half a decade. After many months of COVID which crippled the social aspects of a community, The Burns Lions Club which was founded in February of this year, want to give something back to the people of Burns and quench the absence of community fun. In order to achieve this goal, They reintroduced the once renowned ‘Burns Day’ Event.

Cody Nusbaum Burns Lions Club Treasurer explained how he was really looking forward to bringing the event back to kick off the summer. He has been a Burns resident for 12-years, and he has felt a void that has been developed in the community without having Burns Day in the city. “It used to be a great fun time, and it’s like why can’t we bring that back again?” He asked, “Anytime you can bring people together to have fun, have a common goal even if it’s for one day out of the year. You’re going to see the community grow and become closer.”

President of the Burns Lions Club Kayla Madler wanted to bring activities for the community especially after what was experienced this past year. “After last summer, not getting to do a lot of activities with people. We just thought it would be fun to bring back Burns Day to the city.”

The Club also does charity work, and looks to use Burns Day as a fundraiser. This way, they can continue to pursue their goals in giving back to the community. “We will raise money for lions club and use those funds to help out in the community.”

The event will be hosted from 7am - 11pm on June 12th, 2021. There will be games, raffles, food trucks, parades, live music and much more. For more information on the event, you can view it on their Facebook here
