Pine Bluffs dedicates ‘Tribute to America’s Fallen Heroes’ to Veteran’s Memorial and Community Plaza
PINE BLUFFS, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The townspeople of Pine Bluffs gathered in the Veteran’s Memorial and Community Plaza to dedicate a new wall mural on the back of the Public Library.
The dedication of the wall titled ‘Tribute to America’s Fallen Heroes’ was made official today, thanks to the collaborative efforts between several organizations. The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 60, Plaza Founder, Larry Silvey, and Wyoming’s Veteran Commission are just a few that contributed to the wall.
Members of the Legion also performed a brick-laying ceremony, honoring past and present veterans and their families. In addition, they presented and pinned Purple Heart plaques onto the adjoining wall.
Families were able to lay down bricks engraved with the name of their loved one who served and would now be embedded into the core of the plaza.
“This complex demonstrates this communities’ admiration and gratitude for all those who made the supreme sacrifice to service to their country, and stands as a reminder to future generations that this freedom did not come free,” said Jennie Gordon, First Lady of Wyoming.
Silvey said this tribute is the final piece, completing the Veteran’s Memorial and Community Plaza. In addition to the statues, ‘America the Beautiful’ mural and the engraved bricks, the ‘Tribute to America’s Fallen Heroes’ was a beautiful finale to the plaza.
“Increase the patriotism in young people, (and it) gets us support of the military, which we don’t have sometimes, which I think is probably very important because they are kind of our guardian angels throughout history,” said Silvey.
Silvey is ensuring Pine Bluffs sets an example in honoring what he calls, the real heroes. With the final addition of the wall dedication, Pine Bluffs now features a beautiful, complete memorial tribute.
“Larry Silvey, being able to donate this, and then what is has become, is just really an inspiration to all communities across Wyoming,” said Jennie Gordon.
