RIVERTON, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -

There is one CWC rodeo team member that’s now headed to College National Finals Rodeo, and as a freshman she wasn’t sure what her results might be, but after the announcement she’s excited to be progressing onto the next level.

CWC Rodeo Team Freshman Bekah Hartley described, “I didn’t have a lot of luck in high school rodeo, so it felt really good to come to college with some older kids and do really well. I was pretty proud, and I knew that my horse had it in him, it was just me that had to get over my stuff, and let him do his job.”

Hartley competed with the CWC rodeo team at the last spring rodeo in Greeley, Colorado this past weekend. Going into the long round, Hartley was sitting at 5th in the region. She said she didn’t want to put too much stock in the standings, but knew she had to make the best run she could.

She explained that she’s preparing for the finals by taking the very best care of herself and her horse that she possibly can.

“Making sure he’s feeling his very best, no soreness, no anything like that, just really making sure that we’re both ready mentally and physically to go compete. My hope for the CNFR...honestly I haven’t got that far yet, because I got the news yesterday and I’m just excited to go. I’m just going to go do the best I can,” added Hartley.

She will be competing in barrel racing at the CNFR, starting June 13th in Casper.
