Quebec 01 launches re-opening May 1
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - As more Wyoming State Parks and Sites begin to re-open for summer, Quebec 01 formally announced their open date as May 1. Quebec 01 is a missile historic site north of Cheyenne, and has only been open for a short time.
“Quebec 01 is the state of Wyoming’s newest historic site. We opened in August of 2019. We are special because we are the only accessible Peace-keeper Missile Alert Facility in the entire country; we are pretty unique, pretty fascinating and pretty cool,” said Alexis Pratt, Superintendent of the Quebec 01 Historic Site.
The site is located in the plains and originally closed because of brutal winter conditions. Pratt said the winter season makes it dangerous for tourists to drive to the site. After being closed for more than six months to the general public, Pratt is confident the summer season will bring more tourists and locals to visit.
“We are actually open seven days a week, 9 to 5, and so we have plenty opportunities for tours and for people to come and see us,” said Pratt. “It has been a very long and cold winter and so we are excited to get back at it and start to give tours and start to see members of the public again.”
Quebec 01 will have a mask protocol when inside the facility, to ensure the safety of the visitors and staff during tours.
