Green River Cheer Team prepares for Nationals in Florida
The Green River Cheer Team is about to make history this weekend as they compete at Nationals in Florida.
“I reached out to some varsity reps, they told me, they said you guys are extremely talented why don’t you go do Nationals,” said head cheer coach Allison Luna. “We had to do varsity camp, so we did a v-rock camp, and the second week of February we learned a new routine, some new choreography just to up our skill level so we could go and then we qualified through the virtual regionals at the end of February which earned our bid to Nationals.”
The Wolves will be one of the first teams in Wyoming to compete at Nationals.
“We are the first to go to the accredited nationals, which is the only accredited national competition by the NCA and so we are the first in that aspect, and so UCA is the most prestigious, most biggest competition you could possible go to in high school.” said Luna. “I think what it does for us, Green River, Wyoming, we are setting the bar, so we are starting out and I think we are going to be putting the level of where we think everyone in Wyoming should be and so I think that is really exciting, again it is really nerve wrecking but it is exciting and I think this team has it in them to make Wyoming proud, and make Green River really proud.”
