Cheyenne South Girls Basketball Head Coach Chad DeBruyn steps down after six seasons
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (CHEYENNE SOUTH RELEASE) - Cheyenne South High School is announcing that Chad DeBruyn will be resigning as the Bison head girls’ basketball coach this year. Coach DeBruyn has been at the helm for the Bison for the past six seasons. He replaced Glen Kirkbride who stepped down in 2015.
Coach DeBruyn has been in the Laramie County School District since 2004 and has been a Social Studies teacher at South since 2011. He has coached both boys’ and girls’ basketball at various levels and was part of two state championship teams at Cheyenne Central High School. Before coming to Cheyenne, he also taught and coached in Yuma, Colorado.
Coach DeBruyn is originally from Rawlins and attended the University of Wyoming. He and his wife, Christine, have two sons Mark and Michael.
While he will be missed as a coach at South, everyone here appreciates everything that he has done for the girls’ basketball program and more importantly, for the student-athletes here. He is someone that they look up to and is a role model for the athletes, teachers, and coaches. We all wish him luck in his future endeavors!
