BURNS, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Burns senior Jaden Gipfert is heading Iowa Lakes Community College to be a two-sport athlete.

Gipfert was initially going to take her talents to Sheridan College but, when the school cut the sports department, she had to find a new home.

Enter Iowa Lakes CC and, when she visited Estherville, IA for the first time, something seemed familiar.

“We got like into the school and it’s literally like a big rectangle and so I was like, this is literally Burns,” said Jaden Gipfert. “Then I got to talk to some of the people that have worked there and they were all just super nice and seemed super welcoming.”

Jaden will play both basketball and volleyball for the Lakers and she already has her schedule.

She leaves Wyoming in late July and within five days will be at her first college practice.

Despite then living more than 650 miles away from home, Burns Jr./Sr. High School’s turnout for her signing showed her that Burns will always be there for her.

“I was just like, [it was] really nice to know that everybody in the school is just excited for me and wanted to be there for me,” said Jaden Gipfert.
