CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - On fire might be an understatement when talking about Ariana Galicia’s performance in the pitcher’s circle last week.

The East Softball senior was virtually unhittable and she has been named Wyoming News Now’s Prep Athlete of the Week.

On Thursday, Ariana started in the first ever Central-East softball game and she was dominate.

She pitched a complete game, striking out 14 batters, in a 15-4 victory.

Ariana followed up that performance by throwing the first Cheyenne high school no-hitter against Wheatland.

Against the Bulldogs, she fanned eight and allowed zero walks over three innings.

“Honestly it brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it,” said East Head Coach/Ariana’s dad Adam Galicia. “That night I was so proud of her and just crying and gave her a big hug and it was pretty amazing.”

Ariana was pleased with her weekend performance, but is focused on team outcomes.

“Just to see all that hard work pay off, it lets me know like that I’m trusting my coaches in the processes that they’re having me go through,” said Ariana Galicia. “And so I’m just excited to see where we are going to end up in the end of the season.”

Congratulations to Ariana Galicia, Wyoming News Now Prep Athlete of the Week.
