The Lady Trojans succeeding in inaugural high school softball season
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now)
The high school softball season is officially underway here in Wyoming, and the first high school softball game in Casper takes place Thursday between Natrona County and Kelly Walsh.
“We were excited about going and just being able to play some softball, especially representing high school, we’ve been fighting and pushing for this, and these girls were very excited to play for their high school,” said head softball coach for Kelly Walsh, Claire Smith.
The Lady Trojans played their first high school softball game ever at Green River on March 26 where they got a dominate win 31-3. Even though this is the first time these girls are playing on a high school team together, they actually have been teammates for many years.
“Most of it was a click, but then there is little stuff here and there to work on but mainly we are a solid team, like we have grown up together, and we finally get to play in high school together which is really cool,” said Kelly Walsh softball senior Arianah Plorin.
Thursday afternoon, the Lady Trojans will take on some more familiar faces as they play their first softball game here in Casper against their cross-town rivals Natrona County.
“Yes, the girls are very excited to play, and we are also playing girls that we have played with and competed with and so it is going to be fun to see them out on the field and they are just excited, they are pumped,” said Smith.
Thursdays game is a double header, the first varsity game starts at 3 p.m. and the second one follows.
