Natrona County Domestic Violence task force tours bars; spreading word about bystander training
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Natrona County Domestic Violence task force toured three bars that have signed up for bystander training this month. The bystander training will help bar and restaurant employees be confident when to intervene in a sexual assault or harassment situations.
The Casper Police Department victim services unit and detectives will lead the training. The victim services unit is aware of sexual assault in the community and they hope to educate the community about it.
“Hopefully changing the culture of attending bars then maybe education will grow and we will be able to make difference in what is being reported in our community,” said Leslie Fritzler, the CPD victim services coordinator.
Fritzler adds bars will get signs saying staff completed the training so community members know it’s safe to be there. Fritzler adds this training is for bar and restaurant employee training right now. Community organizations can sign up for it at any time.
