CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Casper City Council has decided to “separate” from its contract with the Casper Area Transportation Coalition (CATC) over the next 30 days, according to a release from the city.

The city of Casper and the Casper Area Metropolitan Planning Organization have been planning new ways to provide transit in the area. The city will become the new operator for public transportation.

“There is very, very little that this operation revolves around that isn’t already maintained and owned by the City of Casper,” said Casper City Manager Carter Napier. “So from our standpoint, it just makes sense to not have that third-party involved.”

Transit operations will continue throughout Natrona County with limited interruptions during the transition.
