Statewide online farmers market provides ways for people to eat local and helathy
Eat Wyoming has local products from lots of areas the state
CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Eat Wyoming has lots of Wyoming grown products from Asparagus to yogurt. Dr. Jesse Miller, a Casper doctor, said he started this so his patients can eat healthier.
He said he knows consumers want to eat local food he wants to debunk the myth that nothing can grow in Wyoming. “We have a great growing season here especially in the Big Horn basin where it’s a little more temperate and doesn’t have as much wind as Casper. It’s so geologically diverse and our population is so sparse it takes time to develop something like this,” Miller said.
During the pandemic, most were or still are staying physically distant. “People are moving away from the big box stores and want to and are going back to traditional community-supported agriculture,” Miller said.
Delivering to consumers is how Eat Wyoming is connecting with its producers and consumers. “Providing a marketplace where people can go and learn about what food is here is rewarding,” Miller said.
