Cyber Security vital now more than ever for businesses dealing with medical records
400 % increase in HIPPA audits since the onset of Covid
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -
The Riverton Chamber of Commerce and K. I. Computing are teaming up to provide a free virtual training about online security.
Owner of K. I. Computing out of Powell, Dave Kellett stated, “Right now cyber security is one of the biggest problems that people are facing, and HIPPA, especially for medical professionals is also one of the biggest problems they’re facing.”
The training is geared toward anyone that has any type of access to medical records including pharmacies, doctor’s offices, chiropractic clinics, and billing companies to name a few. Kellett added that learning ahead of time how to protect the information could save small business owners thousands and even millions in the future if a breach happens. Kellett said that HIPPA inspections have increased 400 percent since the onset of Covid.
“HIPPA changes with every administration and with every little thing. They’ve made some changes already in 2021 that are making some things, well I’m not going to say better because it really doesn’t make them better, it does make HIPPA more aggressive,” emphasized Kellett.
Anyone from anywhere across the state is welcome to attend the virtual training on March 12th. To join the meeting, click this link https://www.gomeet.com/494-206-836 or call the number and enter this pin. 1571-748-4021 Pin: 494-206-836#
