Mustangs win first state title since 1984

CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -

On Feb. 27 in the class 4A State Wrestling tournament, the Natrona County Mustangs pulled away the win for the 4A State Wrestling championship. Natrona County finished with a final score of 247.5. This is the Mustangs first state title since 1984.

In the 106 weight class Kaden Orr for the Mustangs finishes as runner-up in the championship match. In 113, Tate Tromble for the Mustangs wins his 3rd place match. In 120, Kael Johnson for the Mustangs wins his 5th place match. In 126, Nathaniel Sausedo gets the win in his 3rd place match. In 132, in the championship match, Kyler Henderson for the Mustangs gets the 3-1 decision to become a state champion. In 138, Billy Brenton gets the win in his 5th place match. In 145, Cyrus Meeks for the Mustangs finishes as runner-up in the championship match. In 152, the championship match, Kaeden Wilcox gets the pin and is the new state champion. In 182, Jack Mortimer for the Mustangs finishes in 6th place in his match. In 195, Davis Knight for the Mustangs gets the win in his 3rd place match. In 220, Colter Helm for the Mustangs finishes in 6th place in his final match of the day. In 285, D’Anthony Smith for the Mustangs gets the final pin of the night and takes home 3rd place.
