Natrona County Special Response Team peacefully resolves domestic dispute
CASPER, Wyo. (PRESS RELEASE) - Shortly after 6:00pm on Monday, February 22nd, 2021, Casper Police Officers were dispatched to the 6300 block of Timberline Court in Casper for a report of a disturbance.
A neighbor called police to report that their neighbors were fighting.
Upon arrival to the scene, officers located an adult female outside of the residence. The female had obvious signs of being physically assaulted.
Officers assisted the woman and immediately called for medical assistance. Officers then attempted to make contact with the woman’s partner inside the residence. When the male suspect inside saw officers he opened the door, then closed the door on officers, refusing to exit.
Several detectives and officers accompanied the victim to the hospital to receive medical treatment. The victim told officers that her partner had severely physically assaulted her while she was in the shower. The male suspect also made threats to the victim using a firearm and other weapons. Officers observed injuries on the victim consistent with her account.
Meanwhile, officers continued to issue commands to the male suspect to exit the home. Due to the non-compliance of the suspect and the severity of the crime, the Natrona County Special Response Team (SRT) was activated to further ensure a peaceful and safe outcome of this event. Ultimately, after negotiating for three hours, SRT made entry into the home where the suspect peacefully surrendered and was taken into custody.
The Casper Police Department Victim Services Unit also responded to assist the victim during this incident. The Victim Services team will remain in contact with the victim to provide support and services such as clothing, transportation and shelter through this situation.
