CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Casper-Natrona County Health Department has distributed over 9,000 COVID-19 vaccines, and residents over the age of 65 are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

In a Casper-Natrona County Health Department Board Meeting on Thursday, it was revealed the plan is to include people younger than 65 with pre-existing medical conditions soon.

Casper-Natrona County Health Department Executive Director Anna Kinder said that COVID-19 testing is “down” and contact tracing has become easier and up to date in the same board meeting.

Kinder also said the health department has added additional hours and work days to keep up with COVID-19 vaccine demand. She doesn’t anticipate receiving more vaccines each week any time soon, but she remains hopeful.

Dr. Mark Dowell from the Wyoming Medical Center said the Johnson & Johnson vaccine would be a “gamechanger” and help increase the speed of the vaccine rollout.
