Prep Athlete of the Week: Sebo Emmons
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - This week’s Wyoming News Prep Athlete of the Week, Sebo Emmons, grew up a gymnast.
But with less gymnastics events available to compete in, he decided to pick up diving.
In this, his first season diving competitively, the Cheyenne Central sophomore has gotten better and better.
He’s improved to the point that he is now a conference champion after winning the 1-meter dive championship at the 4A East conference meet with a score of 440.8.
Emmons was just 12 points away from eclipsing the school record, which is amazing considering that he is just a sophomore and a diving rookie.
“Sebo’s a really, really hard worker,” Central Head Diving Coach Talan Premer said. “In fact, he’s one of those kids that when you coach him, I can give him just about any set, I can ask him to do just about any dive, and he might kind of think about it, process it, and then he commits to it.”
When asked what he likes to do outside of the pool, Sebo gave a straight forward answer.
“Hang out with friends, I guess, and get my homework done since my schedule is pretty tight right now [with] working out early in the morning, then until five at night,” Sebo Emmons said.
Sebo said he plans to dive in college and Coach Premer said that, if he keeps up the good work, he could be a Division 1 diver at the next level.
Good luck and congratulations to Sebo Emmons, Wyoming News Now’s Prep Athlete of the Week.
