Frigid Temperatures with a Chance of Snow

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -

Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for the areas in the pink; including Jackson, Afton, Sierra Madre Mountains, and the Snowy Mountains. The Winter Storm Warning in the western part of the state will expire Saturday at 5AM. This region will see accumulations amounts from 12-23 inches of fresh powder! The Sierra Madre and the Snowy Mountains will have the storm warning sticking around until Sunday at 11AM with 9-21 inches expected. Great new powder for snowboarding or skiing over the weekend, just make sure to bundle up! Winter Weather Advisories for the areas in purple will expire Friday at 8PM. This area will be seeing 2-4 inches with gusts up at 35mph. The areas in the light blue color is under a Wind Chill Advisory until Monday at 11AM. Wind chill values will be between -30ºF to -45ºF over the next five days. Make sure to bundle up as you head outdoors, bring pets indoors, check on the elderly, and if you are traveling have a emergency travel kit handy!

Snow showers are expected across the region for the next 3 days. The first wave of moisture will be from the north and the second wave from the south. Casper should expect 2-3 inches of snow accumulations until Saturday morning, but this amount could change depending on where the heaviest snow band is located. Cheyenne should expect a 1-2 inches of snow, this does not include the snow expected on Saturday or Sunday.
