National Pizza Day-an opportunity to support local parlors
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -
Today is National Pizza Day, and for those of you that love the Italian inspired meal, you may be considering which pie to buy. There are countless pizza chains that capitalize on the foodie holiday, but have you considered the benefit of supporting your local pizza maker?
Owner of Tony’s Pizza in Lander, Adam Kirkpatrick stated, “The big benefit to supporting a local pizza place is you’re going to have better pizza. When you come to a local pizza place, there’s going to be a specific style and care put into it, that you just cannot fabricate in a commercial setting.”
Adam noted that the nutritional quality is certainly higher when the food is all fresh, which is more often done with the small pizza places. “Our goal is to make the best possible tasting food, and that comes from really fresh ingredients, so nothing is frozen, nothing comes out of a can. It’s important, it makes the best pizza you can make,” emphasized Kirkpatrick.
He said it’s important to keep an eye out for specials, because often the local specials end up being the same price as a commercial chain. “We’re feeling the love and this whole week is Valentine’s week for us, so we’re doing $10 heart shaped pizzas all week. He said the inspiration is to “send that special someone a little message, let them know you’re thinking of them while also giving them a delicious and lovely treat,” added Kirkpatrick.
Local places are often ready to please the customer, and Tony’s Pizza is trying to do just that. Kirkpatrick said they offer gluten free, and will work to appease any specific diet people are adhering to. “I think it’s important to use only fresh ingredients and to make actual food from actual ingredients which is what we do.” Regardless of which one you choose, hopefully you can check out your local pizza options and celebrate the day. Happy National Pizza Day!
Tony’s Pizza offers buy one get one half off on all pizzas every Tuesday, and is open for dine-in, carryout, and delivery.
