CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - High Wind Warning is in effect until 5 p.m. for parts of Carbon and Albany counties. West and Eastbound of I-80 WYDOT has issued an extreme blow over risk. Closing the highway to light and high profile vehicles.

Starting off the morning was brutal for much of Wyoming. As temperatures were in single-digits and negatives to start. Wind chills made sure to lower the ‘feels like’ to double digit negatives. Isolated snow showers popped up in parts of northern and north west Wyoming. Now we are looking for a less active Monday afternoon but still could see more snow on the way.

The arctic air mass is here, what that means? cold cold and more cold in Wyoming as the week continues on. In addition, a stationary system has settled along the state acting as a catalyst working in tandem with the Low that is remaining in the state to set the stage for more active winter weather. For the rest of Monday however, Sun will beam down on Southern Wyoming, with some warmer air coming in from the west. Temperatures will remain freezing and below. However, they will struggle to not drop as noticeably as areas in the north.

Expect a sunny yet windy day in Cheyenne and areas in the southern region of Wyoming. Light breezes will make their stay in the central and northern areas. However, active precipitation does not look to headline our forecast for Monday!
