Prep Athlete of the Week: Lincoln Siebert
BURNS, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Wyoming News Now’s Prep Athlete of the Week is Burns/Pine Bluff’s Wrestler Lincoln Siebert.
The senior has had an excellent 2020-2021 campaign.
He is (25-3) this season and has helped Burns/Pine Bluffs to eleven straight duals wins.
Sometimes it can be difficult for Lincoln to get into a rhythm. He wrestles in the heavy weight class and not every school has someone for him to wrestle, resulting in multiple forfeit wins.
Despite this, Siebert stays sharp.
“It would be easy for a kid like Lincoln to come into the room and say “you know, I probably will not wrestle, and if I do wrestle this week, based on the teams that I know we’re gonna be wrestling, [I’m] probably not going to wrestle anybody that’s real tough so I’m gonna kind of just take it easy and relax and enjoy it” and that’s not what he does,” said Burns/Pine Bluffs Head Coach Dan Clayson.
Lincoln said he uses lessons from past years Clayson said that the senior keeps training hard every day to get ready for bigger meets, like Regionals and States.
“If you had told me as a freshman that I would’ve been this good [a] wrestler coming into my senior year, I would’ve thought you were kind of crazy,” said Lincoln Siebert. “But [I have to] just [keep] working hard and [keep] my head up, and even when losing a few matches here or there, freshman [or] sophomore year, [I] just keep plugging.”
After high school, Lincoln is heading to Northwestern College in Iowa.
He will wrestle and play football for the Red Raiders.
He said he then hopes to become a high school history teacher and would also like to get into coaching too after college.
Congratulations to Lincoln Siebert, Wyoming News Now Prep Athlete of the Week.
