Prep Athlete of the Week: Jordan Codner
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Wyoming News Now’s Prep Athlete of the Week is East Boys Basketball’s Jordan Codner.
Jordan is a senior who is starting for the first time this season.
The guard had a great week against a pair of Nebraska opponents.
On Friday January 15 against Scottsbluff, Jordan did not score a lot but he stepped up providing six rebounds and two steals
Codner’s Thunderbirds came out with the victory against Scottsbluff, which stretched East’s win streak over the Bearcats to four games dating back to the 2017-2018 season.
The next day, the T-Birds faced Alliance and Jordan played great.
He scored 14 points and had five steals on the defensive end.
“Going into the second half I was in foul trouble so I knew I had to step up my defense and not foul and hit shots when I get the ball,” said Codner.
The senior earned high praise from his coach, who nominated him for Prep Athlete of the Week honors.
“He had a good weekend shooting the ball,” said East Head Coach Rusty Horsley. “[He’s] just a senior that’s worked incredibly hard to get to where he’s at right now and we’re really proud of him in this program.”
When asked what he likes to do in his spare time, Jordan was very honest.
He said he just likes to walk his dogs, play some video games, and be at home with his family.
Codner also said that he may go to Laramie County Community College after high school and, if he does, would like to play basketball for the Golden Eagles.
Congratulations to Jordan Codner, Wyoming News Now’s Prep Athlete of the Week.
