RIVERTON, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -

Two city council representatives of Riverton have taken their oath of office, and although they each have different goals, they hold the same overall vision for bettering the city of Riverton: growth and development.

Kristy Salisbury, Riverton City Councilwoman Ward 2, stated, “We want things for families to do, we want good medical service, we want economic growth in many areas.” One of those areas that Kristy has worked with is the Riverton Medical District, to break ground in acquiring a nonprofit hospital. She’s seen the support the community has offered with that.

Salisbury added, “I think people have a real desire to want to be involved, and sometimes I don’t think people know how. I want it to be where people can say ‘Hey we have an idea,’ and as the city, ‘How can we help you, how can we support you, how can we get this done?’ ”

Riverton City Councilwoman Ward 3, Lindsey Cox, holds several positions currently with Little League, AAU Volleyball Club, and the Legion baseball group that her kids are involved in, which hold much of her motivation for making Riverton a better place.

“My inspiration for being a bigger part of our community is my children. I want them to want to live here the rest of their lives, if this is where I’m going to be. I want them to have job opportunities and want to come back here to raise their children. I think that family’s important and that’s why I’m doing this, is for my family,” emphasized Cox. A goal of Lindsey’s is for a recreation center, which she hopes would stimulate the economy.

“We are centrally located in Riverton, and it gives us the possibility to host more, and bring more families here, that’s business for our restaurants, our hotels, and I think it’s an amazing opportunity if we can come together and do that,” added Cox.

The next city council meeting is January 19th at 7 p.m. in Riverton City Hall.
