Casper artist kicks off 51/49 Project

CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - James Bardgett has been a professional artist for about four years, and he’s always had a soft spot for the community. He’s volunteered with youth hockey and the YMCA in Casper and always had an objective to give back and help the community.
His latest venture called the “51/49 Project” is auctioning off a piece of his artwork every two weeks for a different Natrona County non-profit. The non-profit receives 51% of the proceeds that the custom piece of work representing its organization nets.
“I feel that in the given times that there are some people that are really struggling,” said Bardgett. “So the premise of 51/49 is if you have the means is to give a little bit more than you take.”
Wyoming Food for Thought and the YMCA of Natrona County were the first two organizations to receive donations from Bardgett’s art auctions. Currently, United Way of Natrona county will benefit from the piece that is up for auction.
United Way of Natrona County Executive Director Anna Wilcox said her organization is grateful and honored to be involved. “The 51/49 Project is just 100% right in line with the support that we look for from our community,” said Wilcox.
