CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Wyoming Medical Center earned its second A grade from the Leapfrog Group, a national watchdog company. Wyoming Medical Center was graded over long periods at a time to earn this grade.

Dr. Carol Solie,  Vice President of Medical Informatics, said part of the test is their records system for any errors that could occur like prescribing incorrect medication.

Solie added they are working on being more diligent in their handwashing and hand hygiene procedures. Especially now because COVID-19 can be spread through contact.

Lance Porter, Wyoming Medical Center CEO, said he’s excited to see patient safety surveys improve. He adds this survey isn’t about whether the patient enjoyed their stay or not; it’s about communication between doctor and patient.

“This is important to us because it measures our ability to respond to safety issues and keep our patients safe,” Porter said.

He adds this grade is a clear way for consumers to see the quality of medical centers.
