A community says goodbye to its current Chief of Police
Change of Command Ceremony for Cheyenne Police Department, community comes out in full support of Chief Kozak.
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Change of Command Ceremony for Cheyenne Police Department, community comes out in full support of Chief Brian “Baker” Kozak.
From 2010-2020 he served as the Chief of Police to the city of Cheyenne. This past December, Brian Kozak announced his retirement.
Community supporters filed in front of the Public Safety Building on 18th St. as the Chief of Police was presented the current United States of America flag. The change of Command Ceremony consisted of the public and the Department to thank Chief Kozak for all he’s done.
Remarks in the ceremony were made by the Police Department’s Chaplan, Cheyenne’s current Mayor Marian Orr , various community leaders, and Cheyenne Police’s Department’s Leadership.
“Being Mayor and not only meeting other mayors from around the country, this doesn’t happen often or at all. How blessed have we been to have you as Chief, Cheyenne Mayor, Marian Orr said.
During the Chief’s commemoration Kozak and his peers fought back the tears, after 10 years of Service as the Chief of Police, Brian Kozak addresses the public one last time in his active duties.
“I’m so proud, these aren’t’ tears of sadness. I’m just so proud of what everyone has accomplished here. The Men and women who have served this Department this is our Moment.” Chief of Police, Brian Kozak said.
