Cold Front Approaches for the Weekend

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -

Merry Christmas! Tonight temperatures will be rather chilly so make sure to bundle up if you are headed outside tonight or in the morning. Cheyenne will bottom out at 28 degrees with mostly cloudy skies. Casper bottoms out at 28 degrees with mostly clear skies. High Wind Warnings are in effect for parts of Carbon, Albany, Platte, and Laramie Counties until Saturday at 11am. This is due to winds being sustained at 35mph+ with gusts as high as 70mph. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Yellowstone until Sunday at 6am. A Winter Storm Warning is also in effect for for Fremont, Gallatin, Park, and Teton Counties until Sunday at 6am. Make sure to check the roads for any closures before traveling!

A cold front is approaching the state bringing in cold temperatures, snow and windy conditions. Snow will start in the western part of the state Saturday morning pushing eastward. Isolated snow showers are possible Saturday and Sunday for the entire state. The Tetons including Jackson Hole will see the most snow accumulation which is great news for anyone that is planning on snowboarding or skiing.

Tomorrow temperatures will still be warm in Cheyenne and the panhandle before the cold front sweeps through. Cheyenne will top out at 55 degrees while Casper tops out at 40 degrees. Another reinforcing cold front will come through the state Monday bringing another round for some snow with cold and breezy conditions.

Right now New Years Eve is looking to be a chilly day with frigid temperatures expected overnight.
