Guns, Boots, and Brands--Kiwanis of Lander uses fundraisers to give back
LANDER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -
Like many fund raisers this year, this Lander Kiwanis chapter decided to go virtual. This is the 6th annual fund raiser “Guns, Boots, and Brands,” which is their biggest of the year and brings in between $14,000 to $18,000 in revenue. Aside from the amount needed to run the club and keep the lights on, the rest is placed back into the hands of community members and nonprofit organizations.
A virtual table can be purchased, or you can buy an individual ticket. With the tickets you will be entered in a drawing for your choice of five art pieces, two of them valued at $1,200. They also have a 22 revolver, Glock 19, and a 65 Creed More with a scope. Other options to place your ticket are for a one day fishing trip with Dunoir Fishing Adventures, a stocked Yeti cooler, or a pair of Maven binoculars.
The club uses the proceeds to benefit the kids of Fremont county for many needs and activities. One of the ways they gave back recently was to provide outdoor gear to encourage kids to get some fresh air and stay active when in-person school was cancelled.
President of Lander Kiwanis Jacob Huhnke stated, “During Covid last year when they kicked everyone out of school and quarantined everyone, we donated $6,000 and went and just bought as much outside gear as we could for some families that just needed some help getting their kids out of the house. They weren’t able to go to school and those kids needed something to do, so we bought jump ropes. It was pretty fun, we went and bought a whole bunch of fishing poles and bikes.”
The drawing is this Thursday, and will be done live on Facebook. To lean more and purchase tickets, visit https://www.facebook.com/LanderWYKiwanis.
